One in 8 couples face fertility challenges. That number is staggering and what that means is each and every one of us knows at least one couple struggling to get pregnant. Yet there is SO much shame and stigma around infertility and fertility treatment.
I know when I was going through fertility treatment, I felt like I was the only one that this was a challenge for. I knew it couldn't be true but it certainly felt that way. And what's worse? I felt I couldn't talk to anyone who would understand what a loss it was to know that without medical intervention we would never have a baby.
The loss of being able to grow a family on our timeline, in our own way, without constant medical appointments. The loss of realizing my body couldn't do what it needed to in order for us to conceive.
The first time I went to see a reproductive endocrinologist in my late 20s because my window for conceiving was closing rapidly, and the fertility path we chose to take.
