When the Second Trimester in Pregnancy is Not the "Easy" Trimester

The other day I was scrolling through my Instagram feed & saw a version of the typical "pregnancy by trimester" post you may have seen:

First trimester: nausea 🤢 and fatigue😴

Second trimester: you feel human again 💃

Third trimester: "is it over yet?" ⏳😬

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

As a mom of a former 24 weeker, that certainly was not my experience!

The second trimester is not the "easy trimester for many women.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

This "pregnancy by trimester" graphic got me thinking about my Path to Baby clients.

Over the last 3 years that I've been working with clients through this program, about 90% of them had a history that did not match this social media post either.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Prior to our work together, my Path to Baby clients experienced either a second trimester loss, an extremely preterm delivery (with or without a baby to bring home), and/or the beginnings of pregnancy complications that resulted in preterm birth in the early third trimester.

In all honesty, 90% of my clients have not experienced an "easy" second trimester.

I share this because

  1. I want you to know that if your 2nd trimester was not easy, I see you. Your experience is valid & real, even if it's not the majority experience

  2. And, there is so much hope still if you decide you want to #TTC & be #pregnant again.

Through our work together in the Path to Baby program, all of these women, yes 100% of them, have gone on to defy medical odds & stay pregnant longer than their medical team thought was possible.

Anticipated pregnancy complications did not arise and deliveries went smoother than my clients could have imagined.

There is hope.

Yes, you may be at risk for pregnancy complications in your next pregnancy. Almost all of my clients are as well. And also, when we can incorporate the missing piece of your prenatal care - your nervous system - we can also see women like you beating medical odds too.
