After my son was born and came home from the NICU, I was consumed with guilt - as so many preemie moms are. I felt like my body and I had let him down, forcing him to struggle and fight for his life instead of protecting him until the very end.
What that translated to was me feeling like I had to do all.the.things to make up for not being able to stay pregnant. I felt like it was my responsibility to do it all and to do it all by myself.
That led to burn out, more health problems for me and a feeling of just wanting to survive this period.
I had no idea that even I, a mother who spent months in the NICU and was on lockdown for years after my son came home, could have a Postpartum Dream Team to help ease the transition to parenting at home with a brand new micropreemie.
Boy do I wish someone had told me this sooner and that's why I'm sharing these bits of gold with you today!
